Summary: Dithering didn't have a huge impact on the majority of the images, although as the graph clearly shows, it increased the file size significantly. Although in the early images (the ones with a low amount of colour) dithering did improve the quality by smoothening out the colour transitions, especially in the sky. The optimum image was the non-dithered image with 50 colours. Any lower and the quality became unacceptable and any higher and the size became too big.
